My Gay Awakening is a charity zine from Moon Goon Publishing celebrating the legacy of the women in animation who have served as icons for many young queer girls. Over 100 artists collaborated to create this zine full of illustrations and comics featuring strong female role models from properties such as Sailor Moon, DC Comics, Steven Universe, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, and many more. All proceeds from book and merchandise sales went to Outright Action International, a non-profit for LGBTQ advocacy around the world.
I was the lead designer for this project. I designed the branding and book layout, created the cover art concept and coloring for the final design. The logo and cover draws inspiration from several Magical Girl TV shows and comics from the 1990s-2010s.
